In the labor movement there is a saying “Organize the South, Organize the Nation.”  Building the workers rights and union movement in the our state starts with communicating to fellow democrats in our counties.

Labor Caucus county leaders are critical to this process.

The primary goal of each county leader is to assure that the NCDP Labor Caucus has an active presence at the county level and continually promotes membership in the NCDP Labor Caucus

The Caucus asks that County Leaders work on the following goals:

  • Represent the Caucus on the county executive committee (you would be a voting member.) We will assist by sending your county chair notice of your appointment as Caucus County Leader.
  • Communicate about our key issues at Executive Committee meetings and to precincts using any available county communications tools. E.g. provide announcements or submit an article form our newsletter to the county newsletter or Facebook page.
  • Forward our monthly Voice of Labor newsletter.
  • Promote membership in the Labor Caucus
  • Build a county level team of 5 or more people to work with you on Labor issues and to organize county level activities and support Caucus initiatives around state and national legislation.
  • Attend Labor Caucus meetings and trainings for County Leaders.
  • Become well versed in our key labor issues
  • Be available to assist with labor initiatives in your county.

We have learned the hard way that Labor issues and the Labor Caucus does not receive any recognition at the county level if we don’t ask for it. With your help we can change this.
